Magdalena Urbanova (born 1971) studied at the Faculty of Philosophy and Arts of the Charles University in Prague and later became a goldsmith at the Secondary Professional School in Prague. Enamel occasionally devoted itself to the early 90’s and after 2000 the enamel became its profession.
She participated in several exhibitions and organized group thematic exhibitions. She attended several times the enamel symposium in Hungarian Kecskemét. He sells his products in several galleries, family shops and the Internet. The essence of enamel was learned by the mother – Mrs. Radka Urbanová, who began enameling in the 1980s and led her three daughters to fine art.
Her paintings and jewelery most often produce jewelery enamel on copper. The enamel attracts its unpredictability and variability. She likes to experiment with the colors she burns in the oven many times, and she enjoys being constantly surprised by this technique. Recently, he has also devoted himself to drawing, especially larger wax pastels on cork and cardboard.
Expression intuitive pastels for her represent the opposite to working with enamel, which requires slowness, care and necessity to conform to technology. The impulse for writing the book “Enamel in Fine Art” was an effort to increase the popularization and development of enamel in our country and the interconnection of its authors across techniques and materials.
At the end of 2014, she and URBAN.KA founded her friend, who focuses on products printed using modern digital printing. The creation of Magdalena Urban in enamel, pastel or watercolor thus gains a second life on silk scarves, bedding, pillows and other products.
